International Day for Biological Diversity

May 22nd is designated international Day for Biological Diversity. The theme for 2009 is Invasive Alien Species

Non-native plants and animals can out-compete our established animals and plants and cause serious problems. As this is International Biodiversity Day and the theme is invasive species, WIT's Dr Nick McCarthy will tell the story of some animals and plants that are cause for concern, how they got here and what they effect they have.
